BytePOS Privacy Policy
BytePOS (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an offline-first point-of-sale and billing application developed by PakByte Apps. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is protected.
Summary
BytePOS is built to work entirely on your device. Your shop data — products, sales, receipts, and customers — is stored locally and is never sent to us. We do not have a server that receives your business data, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties.
Information stored on your device
All business data you enter stays in a private database on your phone, including:
- Products, categories, prices, and stock levels
- Sales, receipts, and customer details you choose to add
- Shop details (name, address, phone, logo)
- Product and sale photos you capture
Your app-lock PIN and security answer are stored only as a securely hashed value on your device — we cannot read them.
Device permissions
- Camera — to scan product barcodes and take product/receipt photos. Images are stored on your device only.
- Photos / storage — to attach images and to export or import your backup file.
- Fingerprint / biometrics — handled by your device’s system to unlock the app. We never receive your fingerprint data.
- Internet — used only for optional cloud backup, in-app update checks, and showing ads.
Backups
BytePOS can create backups of your data:
- On-device & file backups stay with you. You may export a backup file and share it by email or messaging apps — that action, and where the file goes, is entirely your choice.
- Google Drive backup (optional) — if you connect Google Drive, the app uploads your backup file to a folder in your own Drive. We use the limited “drive.file” scope, which only lets the app see files it created. We never access the rest of your Drive, and the backup is not shared with us.
Advertising
The free version of BytePOS shows banner ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and process device information such as a device advertising identifier, IP address, and general usage data, in line with Google’s policies. Google’s handling of this data is described here: Google Advertising and Google Privacy Policy. An ad-free upgrade is available in the app.
App updates
When online, the app may check a small file to see whether a newer version is available and prompt you to update. This check does not transmit any of your business data.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal or business data. Data is only processed by the third-party services you choose to use (Google Drive for backup, Google AdMob for ads), each governed by its own privacy policy.
Children
BytePOS is intended for business use by adults and is not directed at children under 13.
Data retention & deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you control it. You can delete records inside the app, or use “Erase all data” in Settings to wipe everything. Uninstalling the app removes its local data. To delete a Google Drive backup, remove the file from your Drive.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this page with an updated date.
